Moto Bluetooth adapter

Good news for those of you waiting and waiting for verizon to release the moto v710 with BT. I was visiting howardforums and found out that motorola is releasing a BT adapter that allows most moto phones to be used for BT. Check it out here:
http://www.motorola.com/mot/doc/1/1110_MotDoc.pdf

It's available here for $42:

I think it is available in a few weeks. I just signed a one year with cingular and got the s56. Works great with the TL's HFL, but would be tempted to keep my verizon contract and pick up this adapter with a second hand moto phone.

Does anyone know if this would really work with the TL system, because this could be just one of those things that was designed to work with BT headsets?!

version 1.1, not sure about that
might work with lots of devices, but doesn't say HFL or whatever
I doubt it will work with the car, would be too simple for us
Nice find though

I asked over at howards about this. I'll post back when I get an answer.

from bluetooth thread

Ok so what cell phones work with my TL? - To work with the TL the phone needs to support bluetooth 1.1 specification and also have a wireless or hands-free profile. The car uses this profile to use the settings of the phone.

it still wont have the HFL which the phone must have integrated to work back and forth and operate the phone features

I THINK

The Bluetooth adapter will NOT work with the TL. It does not have HFL. The adapter is made so that people can buy a bluetooth headset.

BUMP
come on blue tooth people

I should stop caring, doesn't even seem to accept my V8160 which is basically the same thing is the V60, jsut smaller and older. Think the startac shoulc be the same too. If all blue tooth is in the unit should work on anything w/ the same config!

moreace- just wait for the 710. July isn't that far away. I just returned from Europe and was very tempted to buy one of their two new Moto GSM/BT phones but didn't want to to with Tmobile.

Remember, too, that Motorola phones are either good (v60) or complete crap (T720).

I will *never* buy another Motorola product after going through 4 T720's in 3 months.

also note that even the v60 hinge is subject to the same "flaw" (cracking) that their other phones do.

"Six Sigma" my ass..

My phone is teeny tiny
710 is supposed to be rather large and heavy
I don't want camera/ color/ crap batterty life............
or to buy a $300+ phone simply for BT and crap options
rather keep my bad boy if possible

Can you link us to that specific Howard Forums thread?

Here's the link to the post I made over at howards for those of you that want to follow along.

I don't know, I'm thinking of keeping the cingular service and dumping verizon. At least the BT phones cingular has have been around awhile and seem to work pretty well. Although verizon has had a BT phone in the past (moto 270), the new moto (710) will be their 1st real integrated BT phone and may be "buggy". I heard it may even ship without full BT functionality (another howard thread). So I figure by the time the phone actually ships, works almost flawlessly with the TL and doesn't break the piggy bank, I'll have run out of patience. New verizon subscribers may benefit from some promo on the phone price when it comes out, but for the current subscribers, I'll bet we pay plenty. I think for me, paying the verizon $175 ETF and going with cingular is cheaper in the long run.

Just buy a phone with bt and you're done. Either that or switch carriers to get a bt phone.

I was excited about this 'til combatibility showed none of the Nextel phones. Nextel, the Microsoft of cell phones

Good thing it won't work on HFL or I'd be more upset. Guess I'd have to wait for the i830 or i930 (supposedly has BT built in)
