Is there a way to adjust the gains on the line connverter to match the amp without special tools?

The reason I ask this is today I let my wife take the car so I turned down my amp gains just incase she got crazy bumping the crap out of my stuff.when I turned down the amp gains I turn up the volume thinking that it would play not as loud and with cleaner sound.well it did make it not play as loud ,but the bass sounds cleaner when the amps gains are at 3/4 up.Why,I dont know I think it somthing to do with the line converter.I'm going to get another set of rca's drive my other car up to my cl's trunk and plug the amps in the cl into the deck in my other car.It has a aftermarket hu.other than that I dont know.

Are the gains on the LOC cranked right now? If they are, that's your problem. It's the same idea behind the tape-player converters that people used to use with cd players then Ipods. If you turn up the input signal, you don't have to run the output at the same level to get equal volume. I believe what's happening is that you're getting above the clean signal level output on your LOC and when your amp amplifies it, you're going to get much dirtier output signals from the amp. So if you turn the gains down on your LOC, and turn the gains on the amp up (not above the level where the amp outputs clean signal) you should get much better sq out of everything. Like I said, I think that's what's happening, so if someone knows better, please feel free to correct me...

far as I remember when I installed the line converter I adjusted it with the gain on my 1 sub amp half way, deck 3/4 volume, converter all the way off.then I adjusted the converter till it sounded like crap and backed it off till it sounded good.Only differance is the 2nd amp.But I'll try messing with the converter tommorow in the daylight.

I did lower loc maybe 1/8 of a turn or so on each channel the other day.Now everything seems louder and cleaner. Now I can give it a little more volume and a little more boost than before and it sounds much beter.GLO matt.
