When I made the spacers for joerckt, my first set for the TSX, I used Home Depot particleboard... they shattered when I was screwing them in, and I had to make another set.

The photos in that thread show 1/2" birch plywood and 1/4" tempered Masonite from Home Depot - they sell 2x2 and 2x4 sheets. I drill pilot holes and countersinks. I also spray-paint them black to make sure they don't absorb moisture over time and swell up - and to make them look better and get black stuff all over my fingers...

those are probably the best spacers I have ever seen most people wont take that much time, but that will be how to do them exactly right

Thanks! You know, I used the OEM speaker diameter and drew the outside circle with a compass I had, and the inside circle was the inside of the Alpine spacer grille ring... so it really didn't take long - 'cept the painting and maybe the drilling.

But after that ring came apart in my hands at like 10PM in joe's garage, I knew I didn't want THAT ever happening again. That sucked the blood alcohol out of me so bad I needed a beer to keep from being negatively sober.

I wish I had included some pics of the rear of the door panel in this thread - there are some in my TSX F door thread - so you can see the foam that these spacers snug up against from behind.

I live in Lodi now, but I use to live in Sac for like 5-6 years. Just thought it was kinda cool to see someone else from around the area. With the new merger, I'm seeing a lot of more people from the Sac area then I use to....pretty cool!

In fact I'm going up there tonight for the Kings game! We'll probably hit the bars after too...

Have fun man. I've wanted to go to a Kings game for so long, but the prices are just ridiculous. This damn city needs another professional sports team.

Thanks man. Yeah we do....we need a baseball or football team. They are gonna build a new NBA arena in downtown though...That will be tight!

Tixs are way too hard to get...I got some because of a friend of a friend of a season ticket holder. You can check Ebay for tix but of course you'll be paying more than face value.
