Making a backup of my NAV dvd is illegal?

Astroboy commented that making a back up of my NAV dvd is illegal and closed my thread. I was under the impression that I owned the dvd and was therefore entitled to create a backup copy if I so desire as long as I don't sell it.

If someone would be so kind as to PM me this procedure or where to find it so that I may LEGALLY back up *my* dvd for posterity, Id greatly appreciate it.

(and btw, Astroboy, not everyone is out to rip Acura off so lighten up a little)

Can someone explain how this is illegal? I certainly don't wish to violate any laws but if I am entitled to backup my own music CD, DVD movie, software application disk, etc., how is the nav disk any different?

And Im not going anywhere Whiskers so I don't know why you are passing on your salutation, unless it's solely to look like an ass (which you succeeded in).

Whether legal or illegal I think the mods, correctly, do not want to expose this site and its owners/operators to any liability in case the information is used for illegal puroses as well.

haha, so the admin of this site closed your thread. instead of PM'ing him about it, you made another thread and told him to lighten up. i smell a

i remember in my noob days i posted something in a vendor thread so smitty banned me for a day. i made another username and made a thread asking why so then astro banned me for another day. that was funny.

back to your question: its not legal for you to back-up your DVD movies. name a mainstream software that lets you do this. the only one was dvdxcopy and it was ordered by a court that their software was illegal.

Astroboy was commenting that the talk of piracy is not allowed nor do we allow or support the discussion of.. Protecting the site that is all don't take it to heart..

The newer version/disc which is a dual layer dvd, I do not believe has been successfully backed up. The single layer dvd versions are able to be backed up..

I'm closing this now..

PM me if you have any concerns or questions..
