Loud buzz coming from subs when the is radio off??

Has anyone had this problem before? I have a JL 500/1 and a 10W7 installed in my car. I used a LOC and tapped the remote from the factory amp. I was told it was the LOC but I haven't seen anyone else with this problem??? Any ideas?

I suspect that your turn on switch is on "signal sense" and the amp is not turning off properly. Double-check that.

i checked the grounds....they're good. i grounded the amp to the bar under the rear seat. theres no whine or any type of noise with the radio on, just when i turn it off the buzzing comes. also checked the signal sensing and its off. i also think i blew my w7...

Look, if you have the remote out from the HU turning on your factory amp, AND you have a loud buzzing noise, then the amp is not turning off with the HU.

That means either you have the wrong wire, or you have a bad amp, or your HU is bad.

Did you check your RTO with a voltmeter? Are you sure it behaves correctly? (If it did before just recheck it for luck...)

I wish things were that simple... your advice is not bad but I doubt it's applying to the amp not turning off.

It sounds just like the signal-sense thing to me...I ahve an amp in the board that does that when its signal sense switch is in the wrong position and the HU is turend off.

Yeah, i am pretty sure it sounds liek a signal sensing issue, i remember when eld n everyone was trying to diagnose my problems, whne i swited it to signal sensing, that was the only time the buzz or "boof" sound would happen when u turn it off. If you are using the LOC, you should have tapped the Remote-Turn-On lead from the amp behind the seat as well, so the switch on the 500/1 should be in hte "off" position under "signal sensing".

if its not that, check the connections from the stock amp to the LOC, maybe there is some interference or crossed wires or something. btw, which is this in?

Eld, you are correct about the amp not turning off when i turn off my radio. i think i may have tapped the wrong wire from the factory amp. i'll have to try that out to see if thats the problem. Its in an 04 at/navi with everything stock. Thanks for the advice everyone it'll be a couple days before i can check this out since its gonna rain all weekend.

USe a voltmeter to test it, don't just try new wires!
