Post Loud Boom From Rear Speakers

I have a 2000 TL. Over the past week, I have heard loud booms from my rear speakers. I think it's from the sub in the back. It happened twice on two separate days when I turned down the volume to talk on my cell phone. As soon as I pressed on the steering wheel controls to turn up the volume, I heard the loud boom. When I tried to recreate the boom right after I heard it, of course it wouldn't happen again. I've never had the volume past the halfway mark in my normal use that the speakers could be affected negatively. Has anybody experienced this? Thanks a lot in advance.

sorry, My 2000 has never had this problem and I'm on my cell phone a lot! (I'm thinking it may be related to the type of phone you have)

I have a Motorola Vader 8160 and a Nextel i1000. The i1000 creates HORRIBLE sounds when in use with it's interference, but never a "boom" sound.

Sounds to me like one of the caps in the factory amp is shorting out.

Thanks a lot for the info guys. It hasn't happened since I posted this topic. I'll ask the dealer about the amp caps. Thanks again.

Chances are the dealer will have NO clue as to what you are talking about. Just tell them about the boom and that you asked a shop and they think the factory amp is bad.
