A lot of noise when connecting my IPOD...

I have a 91 accord and it has an alpine HU (mbus). it works fine with the CD changer and all. now i wanted to be able to use my IPOD on it so i purchased this adaptor from myer emco, this is exactly what it is.

http://www.crutchfield.com/S-zpF72Un...rch=alpine+aux

i installed it and now am getting a lot of noise when i select aux on the HU. i haven't even turned on the IPOD yet and am already getting the noise. really loud too. and it's not just alternator noise. any suggestions on how else i can connect my ipod to this hu. i hardly use this car except on snow days and really bad weather so i'd like to keep the cost down.

by the way, the IPOD works fine on my CL using the alpine ipod interface.

Important question - is your HU Alpine branded or Honda branded?

If it's Honda branded it needs an Alpine to Honda adpater - they swapped two audio pins, and that would cause an issue when run to a mini stereo connector, I think two pins are being shorted.

If it's an Alpine brand HU, then is the cable coiled on top of an ECU anywhere? The cable could be picking up noise... and is the noise ONLY with the iPod connected to the cig adapter charger, or also with the battery?
