Try the Accelevision 8500. So far, it's a great player. There hasn't been a disk that it doesn't play and it has plenty of inputs. Check this link out, I posted plenty of pictures of it.

I'm very happy with the sound level. I think it depends more on the dvd that your watching. I've encountered some dvds that I need to turn the volume up very high to listen to. I've made my own dvds and the volume is just fine. It might also depend on how your feeding the audio through the stereo. I'm going through the UsaSpec adapter. Finding the right dvd player took me a long time! I went to probably at least 30 stereo shops. I was able to find several players that would fit in the compartment (I can recall one made by Boss). Most of them looked really cheap and most of them didn't have a tv tuner and none had front controls. They all had to be controlled through the remote. Having the controls on the face makes it sooooo much more convenient. If your looking for a popular name, I wish you luck because I was never able to find one. The only way you will be able to install a higher end player is to buy the mp3 player faceplate from Acura (which isn't cheap). If you go that route, you will no longer have the cover for the compartment. I didn't like the way that looked. I wanted it be concealed.

I agree with Masterpoolcat... I had the M&D AD-212 in my ride, and switched it out to an Accele 8500. I found it rather annoying having to use the remote for some simple functions, and happened to read through Masterpoolcat's thread. The 8500 has been great! The volume is a little bit better than the AD-212, although I'm using the Blitzsafe Aux v2.x (allows aux w/o losing XM). There are a good amount of inputs, including a built in TV tuner (I don't currently use it).

I would also recommend purchasing from Dom; I think he carries them in stock. I haven't had a bad experience with his shop yet...

On another note, though, if you want the AD-212 again --- I have an "extra" one
