Looking for a double din setup....
hey guys, i been thinking. If you were to get a double din setup in your car, what would it be? Any pics of the installs would help also.
Also, I have the acura navi now, and my rear speakers are still bose, so would a aftermarket unit cause any problems there? Also with the audio controls on the steering wheel... will that still work?
Thanks DAAAAAAAAWWWWGS

Alpine has a really sweet double din deck, and also seperate "components" such as a cd player, md player, cassette that "add on" to one of their decks. I've also noticed someone on this board has a nakamichi deck and a in dash changer mounted together. I'd stick with alpine though to keep your price down a little.
your best bet would be to change everything in one shot... but you can work with your rear speakers... use the pre-amp outputs from the deck and wire those to the "inputs" for the stock amp. As far as the navi voice, if you connect your rear speakers like I just said, and still go through the navi harness, you will still have the voice capability, but only through the rear speakers.
There are adapters available to make your steering wheel controls work with any remote capable deck, but i'm not sure where they are found. They work on infrared, so there is a "sending unit" that has to be programed and mounted somewhere.
Hope this helps out a little, i'm sure others will elaborate on it.

Dash Piece
I am having a custom dash piece made right now. It is for the 7" Pioneer LCD screen and a center channel. This same person has a single din and double din setup that he is working on. He just did mine first. I will post pics when I get it(hopefully) this weekend.
