A little vid of the cl's system

Well finally shot a crappy camera vid of the system lemme kno watcha think(sorry if this is outta place wasn't sure where to put it). Set up is a alphasonik pma1200da amp DD audio 9515 d motor 15" sub, in a custom box 3.5 cubes at 34 hz. factory deck with cheap converter(yea it's hurting the output majorly). Big 3 upgrade with stock size batt and stock alt(both are about to change). I am on the look out for a cheap jeep so I can make a spl vehicle as this set up is destroying my car. http://s79.photobucket.com/albums/j1...t=DSCI0012.flv

wow, i'm def impressed on the amount of air it moves and the power of it
but the box looks a little ghetto to me and out of place
did you do any kind of sound deadening to the trunk or anywhere in your car?
cuz it looks like your trunk moves a fair bit and some heavy roof flexing which could be greatly reduced with some deadening

Yea Ill have to do another with windows up. na not worried about the glass it's under 150 to replace(we've got a honda/acura salvage yard here called beavers honda cheap to replace). As for the box yea she is ghetto only because it's been cut down in size twice. I plan on just building another for it with no screws and such. I have the proper tools now (router to round edges, table saw to make good cuts, and jig saw for holes, also my building skills are getting much better). Na I haven't done any deadning yet thats on the list to do. It does vib but not as bad as you would think as dayum loud as it is. Haha yea baby seat that adds db's lol. Btw the amp is at 1/4 gain gotta get a bigger alt and batt to turn it up, it's not even pushing the sub.

he needs alot more to do that. very hard to create enough pressure from the trunk.

i know a guy who had a wall of 6 15's behind the driver seat and about 6000watts driving it. hit like mid 150's iirc. windshield held fine, aside from resealing it a couple times

Just to know I had a system strong enough. $150 isint a whole lot of money, and if cracked i'd know not to have it that loud again. But since that wouldn't happen then nothing to worry about. I'm just wishing I had the trunk space to house another of these monsters. But unless I want to completely loose my trunk it's stayin this way. Plus I like the fact I can get out my spare if needed.

Looks good... When you get the bigger alt and batt, watch out... This thing will rock... That DD is begging for more power. I'd guess you're well into the 140db's... Very nice... I'm hoping to get mine metered tomorrow when I get my RD back and re-installed, and hope to be high 130's maybe touch 140, but we'll see... Looking good, and you know where to go if you want some re-design help...

I'll ask the same question here as I did for your other build: did you put a 45 in the port or any other corners? It really helps output, and if you're going to re-do this box, I really hope you do the corners...

Yea no 45 in this one i just threw it together. But I will def have one in the next box. I was gonna redo this one again. But I am thinking of just starting from scratch. Not sure if ill use screws with the next one or now. I might want to for strength, at the least ill counter sink them.

I don't either.. I remember when my best friend got subs and it was awesome for a few weeks... haha. He ended up switching cars and never put them in his Bimmer. If I wasn't a jobless poor college kid, I'd probably get a system though. That's a pretty beasty system bro!

problem these days is the quality, they make eveything so cheap so you'll just replace it every couple years with new stuff as tech evolves.

my system:

Kenwood KDC-X969 Excelon cd/headunit
Kenwood KHD-C710 Music Keg - 9GB
Audio Control three.1 - line driver/processor/subcontrol
Rockford Fosgate 800.4 - 4ch amp - 1200watts
Rockford Fosgate FNX-2614 6.5" Components
2 MMats Pro10's in a sealed enclosure

All this stuff is at least 5yrs old and still kicks hard. Mind you it's over 4g's retail back then, the deck was like 1000, musickeg 800, amp 800, components 400, three.1 400, subs 800 with the box. i paid about $3600CAD, working at an import garage/audioshop ftw.

it's a really simple setup too, no rears, so i can just run the one big amp. i covered the whole read deck with sound proofing, basically turns the whole trunk into a bandpass. i just put the components in the factory spots, crossovers are up in the dash and ran new wire from the doors back to the amp.

yea true very true same here I only buy quality when I buy. I got my dd used but still new is about 900 I believe and the amp new is about 600 or more. I laugh when I see wal mart systems and ppl think they have something loud.

i tried to go for more quality items/cables for my setup, but it ends up costing soo much, when i added it all up i kinda got scared with how much i paid altogether.
and davzilla, i feel really bad for you, i hate when you spend a crapload of money just to have stuff way cheaper come out after.
like your 9GB music keg sorry i had to, i have like 4 or 5 8GB flash drives in my car, cost about 20-25CAD each.
But i know my whole system is probably gonna be pretty worthless in a couple years too

i actually started with 30gb ipod photo and the kenwood interface cable. but the the load times and sound quality sucked, so i traded my mechanic straight up for the keg. couldn't be happier to be honest, software is easy to use, sound quality is great. it skips folders as fast as i can hit the buttons on the deck, plus it speak n' spells me the names of the albums as i flip through them. i've never even filled the thing to capacity either, have about 30cd's and a mix or two on it right now. i have like 400+cd's at home and like 100 downloaded ones. i think with out a media player type interface it would be retarded to have it all in my car anyways.

^ah icic, yeah the sound quality is pretty good for my flash drives, they hook into the rear usb hookup which i have coming into the armrest.
The only thing is it doesn't let me play the audio portion of the videos i watch in dolby, but just in regular format
And i needed some bigger sizes to accomidate my collection. i have a couple thousand songs which i put on one flash drive and the rest of the flash drives are taken up by a portion of my music video collection

To the OP: so what are your plans next? dynamat and charging system upgrade so you can keep the sub, or downgrade your system to something that might not destroy your cl?

I'm rocking some cheap JVC Exad DD touchscreen currently(free). I usually use Alpine decks.

Kappa perfect 6x9's, 6.5's up front with Alpine type-R tweets in the dash.
Doors / rear deck have dynamat.
Rockford 450.4 for interiors
Two 12" Dual 4 Type-R's each with their own MRP-M650 600rms Alpine amp in a basic ported box.

I am starting to get the itch for new stuff though, have had those subs / amps for about 3 - 4 years now. DD's surely do some nasty SPL though, that is some wicked panel movement haha.

With the upcoming drop, it will probably cause me to spend even more money on the car. I do miss having one large 15 like that. When I still had the accord, a friend of mine let me borrow his SoloX 18 and a Hifonics Goliath (I think that was the model). He was switching cars and moving, so I got to rock a massive sub, several optima batteries, and a 5000w rms @ 1ohm amp for about a month. Had to take my seat out to get it in since the box was so big, never turned it up too loud but it had a LOT futher to go than I was willing to push. Super loud, just shit SQ from that stupid square design.

The SoloX 18 is the only sub that I have ever witnessed make quick work of rear windows in a ford escape. Some kid must have thought he was the hottness and rolled past my shop to "show off", as I looked up to see who the idiot was driving by I see one of his rear side windows pop

Since your trunk is sealed.. you'd get more bass out of a Sealed enclosure, it creates a bandpass effect and will really send your shit flying.

As for the Glass statement.. you'd need WAY more Bass to blow it out and or crack it. its pretty much a myth that that can happen with a standard set up.

This will only work if you completely seal off the trunk... Otherwise, it'd be like having a leaky bandpass box, which would sound really really bad...

to a point, he's moving way too much air for it to work like that.
