Actually, I was thinking about the same thing. I don't think there's a motorized LCD screen that would fit, but I think there are screens thin enough to fit in there. Problem is finding a screen the right size. Let me know if you find any.

I'm thinking about doing the same thing. This is the display that Snook has and it does fit in the slot really well from the pictures I've seen:

If only I had the $$$$....

That's a nice display. Only thing is I don't want to make any extra cuts to the dash board. I don't know of any reputable car audio places around my area. I was thinking if I could find an lcd display thin enough to fit in there, I could make my own caddy to slide it into the drawer. I'd worry about the wiring later... then again I know nothing about wiring.

That's the pioneer P7000 display. It has been modified to work in the opening. Nothing needs to be cut out in the dash really, just need to make a new trim piece. But the unit IS modded.

thx2249....if you are willing to travel to NJ, we could do the install for you.

How has the unit been modified to fit in the opening? Is it much labor?

Thanks....

The unit isnt really modded to fit in opening, but the outer casing has been removed (well, we'd remove it anyway), and the front panel with the buttons has been modded and wires extended out of it to have full control over the unit.

If I ever take a trip down to NJ, I will definitely contact you. Unfortunately I have no more vacation time until July

Can someone post how-to instructions for a FL resident?

Mine is a lease, so I would like to be able to put it back later if needed.

YES, it is possible to do something like the pioneer p7300dvd (screen and dvd player). We just made a blackwood trim piece for one installed there.
