Just bought 2 10W7s

Guys,

I just bought 2 10w7s to replace my IDMAXs. If 2 are not loud enough, I'll just have to buy one more I'll let you guys know the difference when I install them.

I know a guy who has a 12w7 and a 10w7. He did some testing and he likes the 10W7 better. I paid 700 shipped for both subs.

What box size do you have the 12w7 in? I had my maxes in a big box and they sounded boomy? You might need to adjust your box.

your probably right, I just used some pre-fab box at Good Guys!, it wasn't very expensive. But I'm kinda picky with my sound, so when I say too boomy, I should say just a tad. If I had to guess I'd say the box is about .75 cubic feet. Anyway I look at it, this JL is still a damned good speaker, and its built like a tank!

I'll go and measure it in the morning, but it looks almost like a perfect cube with a slight angle on the fron t where the speaker is. If i were to guess it might be closer to 1 cubic feet, but nowhere close to 1.5 or 1.6. I'd like to make my own box using some stiffer material than mdf, but I got no time lately. But no matter what, the tens will sound wayyyy more acurate than a 12 its just physics. The larger area of the 12 will be slowere to move than a 10. I think.

If you don't mind me asking, where'd you get them for that price shipped? And why not just hijack your thread while I'm at it and ask where can I get the best price on a JL 500/1 shipped? I'm thinking about going with this setup if it doesn't come out too expensive.

I pretty much go to all of the audio forums, but I mostly hang at elitecaraudio.com. I also have a 12w7 on the way as well. Maybe do some testing with that as well. I will sell the IDs pretty cheap because they have scratches on the magnet, and some scuff marks. I will let you know for sure if you are interested. I will give a good price though.
