If you could find a Memphis Belle they are awesome. I have one and just love it. 75 x 4 @ 4 ohms and 1,100 x 1 @ 1 ohm. I paid a little over $500 for mine. Sound is clean and even know I do not listen to my MAX at blasting levels, the power is there if I need it.

fsttyms1,

Your using the new polk db series speaker right? If so, I think the PG Titanium is a little overkill for those speakers, since the DB's are very efficient. A tantrum 600.4 will be more than enough amp. You can pick up one of those too for around half the price. Around $210 - $220 the last time I checked.

yea its kinda old now 3150. id like something with more power. how about the orion 8004? Rated Power (stereo): 100 W RMS x 4 @ 4 ohms, 4 X 200 WRMS @ 2 Ohms
Briged Power 2 X 400 RMS 4 Ohm Mono

I don't know about the Orion or the Helix...but PG or the others listed will be a step down from the Xtant you are used to.

The Orion is a great choice to replace your Xtant. While you never mentioned what type of speakers you will be driving with the amp (subs or full range) the build/design quality of the Orion is one of the best out there.

for the doors polk db6500. i agree orion is a very good company (atleast in the past. its been a few years but when i was into stereos, my hcca orion amp was cleaner in sound than my xtant, and infinitybeta amp and the hcca was ment for subs and power)

Then you have made a good choice. If you were going to power the subs I was going to recommend the 600D or 1200d by Orion. The 8004 Has a really clean signal path and remember that it is conservatively rated for power.

Try out the Precision Power 300.4. Awesome amp! We just installed one in a Mustang Saleen. Very clean and powerful at the same time.

I love the orion amps, in fact I am probbly going to go with a 2500D for my TL, however the Xtant and the orions have always been in 2 differnet classes to me. The xtant is a pure sound quality amp, it has decent power but it's sound quality is rarely topped.

The Orion amp has always been an SPL amp. Starting with thier HCCA amps, cheater amps, and so on. They have rediculous amounts of power and will work any sub you put on them; althouhg, I don't really consider them for sound quality setups, playing full range drivers. I'm using it in the TL with a butler tube driver to power my subs.

Both really good amps just in different catagories IMHO.

its kinda funny but my 250HCCA orion amp (designed for subs and spl) have always made teh speakers sound better than my xtant amp??? why ??? i will probably go with the orion now after finding that they had that beauty!

The Orion of the past was very much a SPL type amp line. But they have changed some since Directed bought them. You now have a great sounding line plus SPL performance in the class D amps.

How about some more pictures of your install. The carpet you used looks like a perfect match to the OEM.

whah?

Dude, what happened?

I haven't installed my XTant yet. I hope this isn't normal for their amps.

If you like XTant, I just posted about a 403A on closeout at SoundDomain.com

Its $159 from $900!

I am going to work on my install this weekend. Ihope to have it done by, say, 2006

If you have any advice to offer about XTant amps (from personaly tragedy) I would totally appreciate it.

Later

Rusky

mee too! the price dropped to $189 before they sold out. I actaully tried to buy one but was just a little too late.

I finally go my XTant 4004 installed... sort of. I only hooked the front speakers to it. The difference between what it sounded like from the hu to what it sounds like XTant'ed is truly amazing. Anyone who is contemplating whether or not to get a quality amp to power their speakers (or just run from the Head unit) DO IT! Aside from the pure volume, the quality is so incredible. You can't really put your finger on it when a system is underpowered because the distortion is not really audible (outside of the quality) but it will be fatiguing. I smile so big everytime I listen. I can't wait to get my rears hooked to the amp. (ran out of speaker wire)

While it has taken me more than six months to install new speakers, a head unit and one amplifier, the experience has been very rewarding. I have had the rare opportunity to get one improvement at a time. I now feel very good about the investment I have made. I will never question whether I could have gotten away with less. And, believe me, it wasn't an easy thing to afford (though I got great deals!)
