adjusting the gain on the amp will change everything... im not familiar with all of JL's settings, but the xovers, gain, boost, and ohms (cause its jl) all need to be set correctly to maximize performance.

^not the correct way to set the gain

turn the gain all teh way down....

turn the source unit to 2/3 vol

adjust gain to comfortable listening level.

bass boost adjustments should be made to compensate for areas of less spl or volume... the freq of the boost depends on woofer size, box type, enviroment, and music listened to.

im just saying that turning it halfway up wil not always work... just giving more precise directions no trying to start a fight.

Who built the enclosure? I've seen many people say they built the box to spec and it didn't sound great. If you see the JL built 10W7 H.O. box its much larger than what they recommend in the owners manual. The JL built H.O. box is great.
