JL 10w7 or 2 10w6v2 all in prowedge? or 2 8w7?
Quick question, which one would you take and why?
I used to own 2 10w6v2 in a prowedge enclosure powered by a 500/1 but had to return it due to some personal reasons.
So im subless again and will need to buy again soon.
I like the thought of having 2 subs, i think i can tell the difference rather than having one but when it comes to the w7 is 2 10's an overkill in my stock 3G TL?
I had one 8" w7 on 250/1 but that thing clipped and eventually the rim had a tear, it was also disappointing listening to rap cuz i couldn't crank it. so i have this fear the 10w7 might do the same?
obtw the 8w7 was used from a friend and had it powered under his 500/1 w/ low gain so it could have happened before i got it in my hands, none the less a 8 is too weak for me.
OR should i go for 2 8w7??
Thanks

No should in here... I'm not going to "should" on you, anyway.
You've had something you liked. I wouldn't overthink it too much past that. Do what works for you.
I think that you could outpace the OEM system with 2 10"s with enough power. I dont know if the 500/1 is too much power... but I'd say that if you liked it before you'll like it again.

personally, id take those W6v2's over the W7. the W7 is way too much "boom" for my liking.
I had a 12W6v2 in my car before and i really liked it (it was my friends). Now i reverted to my 10W6v2. I think you'd like a 12 or 13W6v2.
I'd try to hear all the different variations in your car before you settle apon something

If you like rap you should go with a 12 or 13. I have a 500/1 JL amp and I have 2 12w3v2s pushed by that. I just heard a 10w7 pushed by the 500/1 and it was wayyyy too low boomy bass for me! I am actually really happy I didnt go with the 10w7 its too much. Those w7s are competition subs, you know that right?
I will probably upgrade to a single 12w6 soon.
Dont do 8s or 10s if you listen to a lot of rap.

Thanks for the replies everyone,
stphy32: Yes i know they're competition subs but i just love how they look in the prowedge enclosure! I wonder if i just buy two 10" w6v2 and can get someone to build me a box like that. As for rap a 12w6v2 sounds fucking awesome try listening to Mariah- Like That (you'll be fucking amazed) but it was overpowering my system and made more rattles around my visor and garage opener area. When i had it i should have lowered the gains and see how that sounded. But my amp is under my passenger seat and i have to take the seat out everytime i want to tune it.
As for 10's i like it since i listen to various music such as electronica
For placement: What do you guys feel is the best place to install the sub? I like it as close as possible to the back seat (rear firing)
or should i place it in the side quarter panels near the trunk door?

You guys I listen to a TON of RnB. Infact its my favorite music, I bump that the most. I also listen to rap and progressive house/trance and I would say RnB sounds the best with my setup. Rap sounds good and so does the electronic music but RnB just hits so great. I have a JL 500/1 running 2 JL 12w3v2's in a ported box. (very large, lol)
I promise Napsoner if you like R&B this setup is great.
