Jammed cd in 02 TL type-s ??
I made the severe mistake of trying to put a cd-r into the 6 cd changer on a 02 TL type-s. The headunit is apparently made by alpine, and after much research here and other acura sites, I found out that there is a prob with the thickness of cd-r's in this unit. Store bought copyrighted cd's are thinner than cd-r's and work fine. Feeding a cd-r into the unit is asking for trouble.
So, since none of this is mentioned in the owners manual, and I burn alot of cd's, needless to say I got a cd-r stuck in the unit. Whenever I turned the unit on, there was an audible grinding sound comming from the deck. A very disturbing sound to come from an expensive (~275.00) unit. However, I was able to get the cd-r out by doing the following.
#1 Carefully use a small common screwdriver to gently pry the cd door open by putting the tip under the door in the center of the door and gently apply pressure upward until the door pops open.
#2 While keeping the door open, reach in with the screwdriver and apply gentle but firm pressure down on the metal lip of the mechanism just behind the door. while pushing down several times, hit the eject button for the cd. If the grinding noise is gone, remove all tools and hit eject again until the offending disk is expelled. If the grinding noise continues, repeat the process until you dislodge the disk from the overly size sensitive wheels that eject the disks.
#3 Never put another CD-R in your Player again.
This worked for me, and I keep the driver in the boot just in case

From what i know, and the majority of 2nd Gen owners can tell you that the 99-01 HU's have trouble playing CD-R's but the 02-03 should have no problem playing any sort of CD-R. Good work thought, nonetheless
