Red face Issues with Viper 791XV remote start/alarm

Have an 02 RL, its had the Viper 791XV installed on it for about 3 years now without any issues.

Today though, the car wouldnt go into gear. ABS and VSA yellow lights were lite on the dash. Car starts fine. I just have to use the release lock to get the into drive.

Im assuming its because of the Viper alarm. The car also been flashing its headlights/tailights while the car is armed.

Anyways, what can cause this out of no where? Is there a way i can disable the alarm for now?

I'd check the brake wire. Are your brake lights working properly?

If you look under your dash you will see a connector on the brake pedal. The white/black wire is the brake wire and will likely have a wire from the alarm attached. Try disconnecting that alarm wire and see if your problem goes away. Don't use your remote start with it disconnected though.

As i mentioned via PM, check the sensor for the shiftlock.

When you very slightly touch the brake pedal, you should hear a faint click.

I checked the brake pedal, i cant see any wires going to it. I didnt poke around too much since the Viper alarm has wires all over the place. Didnt want to ruin it any further. Its getting dropped off tomorrow to the alarm place.

You know, there is a faint click if i leave my foot on the brake and start the car. That means the sensor went bad?

Not sure how to test that, let alone replace it.

If the alarm was professionally installed, then definitely have them check it out. They shouldn't charge you for looking into it and that way your warranty won't be voided.
