Question Installing Sirius with Factory Audio

I am the proud new owner of a 2000 Acura TL! It has an incredible BOSE sound system, to which I am wanting to add Sirius satellite radio. I have Sirius in my older vehicle I drive, and I want to add a second receiver to my Acura. What have other TL owners done to install Sirius? Did you do it yourself, or hire it done? Where did you mount the antenna?

All comments and experiences would be very welcome!

Thanks,
CS

I have it. (now installed with aftermarket headunit) I installed the antenna on the roof. Some have put the antenna in the back window and on the trunk lid. I did ti myself. Wether you can install it or not is up to your mechanical ability. (but its not a hard thing to do) I would look for a unit that is either a FM modulator or one that has rca outputs that you can get a interface (PIE, Blitzsafe) to plug into the cd changer port on the back (best sound)Id stay away from tape adapters arent the best in sound quality.

Oh and welcome to the forum.

Are there any guides online as to how to remove the factory sound system? It looks pretty complicated with the security system. Still, I've installed several receivers, so just removing this unit to access the RCA plugs should be a breeze once I get to it.

As long as you have the radio code, there is nothing hard to it. You will get better answers in the audio part of the forum. You baisically have to remove most the center console (all screws are under the wood trim and in the lower part of the console and sides to get the radio to come out (You dont have to remove the radio to get to the back to plug any thing in.( the factory radio doesnt have rca inputs)

I didn't realize there was an audio section to this site. I posted my question again in that area.

Thanks,
