Installation Challenge
Ok guys, I've got a problem I could use some help with. I've got a 1stGen and I just got some Boston Acoustic RM6 speakers for my front doors. The holes on the speakers do not line up exactly with the holes in the stock mounting bracket in the door. I can barely get 2 screws to line up. Anyway, I've been trying to figure out a way to manipulate the speaker holes and the mounting bracket to make the holes line up. This is the best solution I've come up with and I'd like some input from you guys.
The screw holes on the speaker are perfect circles as shown below.
Now I thought that if I were able to file out the holes to make them oval shape in order to allow for some play for adjustment in lining up the holes on the speaker to the mounting bracket in the door. The problem is that as in the above picture, theres no room on the speaker to file out the hole towards the outside edge of the speaker. (the hole must be filed out because the mounting bracket in the door is slightly larger than the speaker, which is why it doesn't line up)
There is a metal lip that folds all the way aroud the outside edge of speaker that, if I could bend flat, would allow me to have more material/room to file out the screw holes. This is the lip I'm talking about
I'd like to bend the lip out so that it is flush with the rest ot the metal portion of the speaker. Can this be done so it is smooth and even? I would think that bending the lip out on a circular object like this, that there would not be enough metal to bend it out flat.
Anybody have any ideas as to how this can be done?
What about any other ideas to get the holes to line up?
I coud really use some help on this. Thanks.

Damn that's a huge magnet.
Have you placed the speakers in the stock opening to see if they interfere with window roll up and down?
The best way to do it is to make some trim rings out of MDF (medium density fiberboard) and screw into the stock screw holes. Then screw the speakers into the MDF.

Thanks a lot for the help everyone.
Chaz, those are great pictures that will help me get an idea of what to do.
I'll post some pics when I get the time to do the work, hopefully this weekend.
