Question I-VES DVD wiring with navi/6-speed

Hey everyone,
Most people have added an aftermarket option where they install a tv/tuner and what not wired into their navi screen to watch dvd's tv. My question is this, can it be wired so that if you have the IVES DVD (dealer installed) to run through the NAVI so that you can watch whatever the passengers in the back is watching. I'm looking at the schematics and it seems almost impossible. Some please help.

I have not seen the detilas for the stock DVD system, what type of video out is it using to get to the flip down monitor? RGB, composite on RCA, other?

If it's compostive video, it can be done, but you will need the avelectronics video conversion kit. If it's RGB, I'm not sure how you can split that, I would have to look into it more.

IVES question

What is the difference between composite and RGB monitors? The kit includes an FM modulator. Does this information help you at all in deciphering if the avelectronics conversion kit would work?

well, a composite signal is the yellow rca connection founs on all tv's, vcr's, etc... am RGB input is not a single wire, it is 5 wires (Red, Green, Blue, SYNC, & Ground). The dash navi LCD take the RGB connection, hence why a converter of some sort is needed to get a composite signal on to it.

the OEM dvd uses FM modulation for sound? damn that sucks balls. you would think they could just plug the sound into the bus system of the car like the MP3 and tape players do...

To figure out if the avelectronics kit is needed for video, you would need to see what the video connection between the DVD and drop down LCD is.

If you have the instructions for installing this kit, post it up or send it my way and I'll see if there is anyway to tell.

The factory option DVD system is NTCS and connects to the rear screen via a mini din cable. I guess it carries the signal for the remote eye and audio for head phones in it as well. Unfortuantely I can't find a diagram with pin outs for it. sucks! I'd really like to get this working on my nav.

Oh yea, the FM modulator is the only way to hook up the audio. It has an S-video looking cable that comes out of the DVD player to the FM modulator. I have been trying to figure out how to pull audio signals from it so I can put in a SNHON03 adapter and run it on the Aux port.
Any help you can provide would be awesome
