You did not say what size the subs are but, the 10" L5 will handle 450 watts RMS and 900 max. The 12" L5 will handle 600watts RMS and 1200 max. You will be putting 600 watts into each sub and should be no problems.

Not sure what could be wrong with running at 1 ohm. I run my Memphis Belle at 1,000 watts @ 1ohm to my Diamond TDX.

basically, you can hook up your subs right away and run them loudly. Just becuase your amp is rated at 1200 watts RMS, doesn't mean your going to run the amp at 1200 watts continuously. Don't worry about your amp being to over-powered. If anything, you should worry about your amp being under-powered. If you run your amp at 1200 watts RMS for awhile, it will eventually go into pretty heavy distortion. but don't be too worried about it. just do this. if your amp starts getting really hot, just keep it down for awhile. i hope this was a help.
