Question How to reset the Navi

A month ago or so I have tryed to see if the orange DVD version 3.60 would work on my 2000 Acura 3.2TL. It didnt work. Then when I've put back my original black DVD version 2.11 , the message came on : "DVD disc reading error (incorrect DVD Disc). Please consult your dealer".
I have disconnected the battery for more then 30 minutes, then connected it back, but no luck the same message comes up each time when I start the car. I noted that when I push the A/C button and then Map button I am able to make the Navi work. How can I get rid of the nagging message "DVD disc reading error (incorrect DVD Disc). Please consult your dealer" ?

Try doing a force load of your old CD.
To access the diagnostic menu with the car on, hold the "Menu, Map and Cancel" buttons down for like 15 seconds then the menu should pop up. Don't mess around too much in there or else you'll screw the settings up.

I did get in to the diagnostic menu (finally... after an hour of trying to push all 3 buttons tougether). Did the GPS reset , but unfortunately it didn't fix the nagging notification. What else can be done?

Did you ever figure this out? I am getting the same exact error after I updated mine (although I used the correct dvd) but I can bypass it by hitting the AC like you do....Any luck with it?

I finally was able to fix it
What I did is following:
1) accessed the diagnostic menu with the car on, press and hold the "Menu, Map and Cancel" buttons down for about 15 seconds
2) removed the DVD from the unit in the trunk for a second and inserted it back
3) accessed the diagnostic menu again and then did the "force load" (it’s the soft button at the bottom left corner of the screen
That's it. The nagging message disappeared for good. Hurray!!!

I just saw your post today and the minute I saw it I knew what the problem was. I had the same thing on the NAV system on my Toyota Sienna. I updated the DVD and didn't see ANY DIFFERENCE between the old and new one. When I put the old one back in I got a similar message like you did. It seems that just like on a computer, the disk also "boots the system" and carries some type of operating system. In fact, it's the operating system on the disk that has the "in motion limitation" that stops you from doing some operations while the vehicle is in motion. Some people copy the old OS from an older disc and put it together with the new NAV data to defeat the motion limitation.

Since you figured it out yourself, all's well that ends well.
