02 TL 6 Disc cd player to single disk cd player from 01 TL

Hi,
My 6 disc cd player is history and i would like to replace it. I have 2002 TL S type. I was wondering if i can replace the 6 disc cd player with a Single disk unit from 00-01 TL ? From the pictures, they look similar. I would like to know if the size is the same or if someone has any success in doing this.

I don't wnat to replace it with another 6 disc player, which might jam the CD's again.

Any thoughts are suggestions are appreciated.
Thank you.

Yes the 2nd gen TL (99-03) single disk and 6-disk changers are interchangeable. Just don't buy a CL changer. Those don't work in the TL (different speaker setup in the CL).

Thank you very much NSXNEXT :-) I am off to ebay now. Any guidance regarding price point? I see single disk units going anywhere from 45-100.

I don't want another 6 disc, as i know they are prone to malfunction with CDr's etc...
Thanks again.

Sorry I don't have any price guidance but I'd make sure the radio security code is included when you buy it.

Remember those 99-01 players don't read burned CD-Rs.

Do you have an Ipod? If so might I suggest an Isimple Ipod hook up? Those work great and have awesome quality. No need for CDs at all.

Very good point. Back when my mom had her 01 TL, I had 03 CL-S6. This was back in 03 when CD's burned at a slow 4-6spd. The would not play in her car. It would focus in/out for a few minutes then eject. Now some CD-R's would work if I burned them at the slowest speed.

Finally got the 6 cd player replaced with a single cd player. As ErickUa5 said in the earlier post, there is a problem with playing burned CDr's. I guess i will have to live with that.

I don't have an Ipod, however, have MP3 player. Any easy solution to hook up an USB port?
Thank you.

Not sure if you want to try this but I got curious with mine and adjusted the laser and got it to read all my burned CDs, you will have to pull out the whole unit out to do this and if you want I can put up some pics so you can see what I mean.

Here you go all you need is a small flat head, Now VERY IMPORTANT, Turn it only 90 degrees to the left and give it a test before putting it all back together. Let me know how it went.

For the test: you mean to connect the cables in the car and test first, before putting all the panels?
Thank you will try this and will let you know.
