How does a head unit distribute wattage?

Lets say you have a stock 6 channel head unit. Lets say its pushing 12 watts RMS to each speaker. If you disconnect 2 speakers... will it push an additional 24 watts to the remaining speakers? Which would bring the total wattage to 18 watts RMS to the remaining 4 speakers?

Or would it just continue pushing each of the 4 connected speakers at 12 watts RMS?

The first Gen TSX uses an 8ch amp with a dedicated output for each driver. The HU outputs front and rear signals and the amp generates the sub and tweeter signals via internal filters. Disconnecting one or more speakers will not increase the power available to the remaining speakers. Also, the output of each of the 8 channels is BTL (Bridge Tied Load) so you can't bridge the factory amp because it already is.

I make a harness that allows you to replace the factory amp with an aftermarket without cutting wires.
