How do I hardwire a Radar Detector w/o buying a kit?

Question How do I hardwire a Radar Detector w/o buying a kit?

All you need to do is cut the cigarette lighter end off, and wire the positive side to the ignition of the car and the negative to a ground. IT will turn on and off with the car. Make sure you add a fuse back in line on the (+) side.

Where is the ignition or another 12 volt fuse in the fuse box which I can add a, "add a circuit" to?

I wired mine to the windshield wiper fuse on the drivers side. I think its fuse 12 but double check with the manual.

The best place to do this is tap the black wire with the yellow strip coming down off the ignition switch.

There is also an open spot on the fuse box, which you will have to probe for with a meter, that you can accomplish this also.
