Houston XM installer needed

Hey all, just need a couple names of Houston shops you would recommend having an XM unit (most likely Delphi) installed using the Blitz HON/XM DMX PIO V.1 for my 2002 TL-S. I'm not as concerned with the cost as making sure it's done right the first time.

Thanks, Chris

The Blitzsafe HON/XM DMX PIO V.1 adapter will ONLY work with the Pioneer GEX-FM903XM. Currently Blitzsafe does not offer an adapter for the Delphi Sky-Fi unit.

If you go with the Delphi (which is a very cool unit), your only choices are a cassette adapter or an FM modulator.

I hope that Blitzsafe does come out with an adapter for the SkyFi in the near future!

Oh, now I'm confused. On the XMclub website, there are people that have done it. Can anyone else confirm that you in fact can't use an adaptor that will replace the modulator?

I highly recommend AGAINST Houston Car stereo... ihad them installed a system on my Integra awhile back...damn they did a terrible job...noise is everywhere in the system even when the volume is turned all the way down.
Also my cousin installed a system there..they drill some screws to attach an amp in the trunk and drilled into the GAS TANK and the whole damn car smelled like gas..took it back and they had to weld it back up..... BAD BAD place owned by some Pakistane dude.... sorry but could help thinking about Sept 11 when I think about it...i know they prob has nothing to do with it but .....

OK, I'll backtrack a bit.

The Blitzsafe part number you quoted in the initial post (HON/XM DMX PIO V.1) will work ONLY with the Pioneer XM tuner.

I checked the Blitzsafe web site to see if they offer an adapter for the Delphi; on the "XM Application Guide" page, you'll find "click here for Delphi XM Skyfi Receiver" - but there's no link! Maybe they are releasing an adapter in the near future. Check out the page yourself at http://www.blitzsafe.com/blitz_catal...tz_xm_app.html

I also checked out clubxm.com, and it appears that people are using a PIE adapter which accepts RCA inputs. That approach will probably work in your TL! Here is the appropriate PIE adapter:

http://www.logjamelectronics.com/piehonaux.html

I believe that StreetEffectz also offers a similar adapter which would work as well.

Good luck, and let us know how it turns out for you.

OK, I called Blitzsafe (nothing like going to the source) and the tech guy said it WILL work with the Delphi and the model is the HON-XM-DMX-DELPHI-V.1 and it's like $100 plus shipping. I have a call into a local Tweeter shop and they use Blitzsafe and so they called separately and got the same answer (except the cost was $75 for the equip plus $199 for the Delphi/car kit plus intallation.

I'm excited now and will go by tomorrow and get it all set up with them, as well as get the antenna so I can have it painted to match the car.

That's great news! I hope Blitzsafe updates their web site soon to include the new adapter. I'm sure there are lots of folks who would like to use the Delphi in their Hondas/Acuras.

Be sure to post the results of your installation so that others can benefit from your experience.

Update: purchased the system and install yesterday. I ended up at Tweeter on Kirby and think I will be taken care of (and it's super close to home, an added plus). They are going to order the hon/xx-aux-delphi-v.1 from Blitzsafe today (I hope) and will arrange for an install once it arrives.

I need to find out the best place to get SSM paint so that I can paint the (very small) Delphi antenna, so will do some calling around this afternoon (dealers and Honda bodyshops).

I will definitely post pics of the install (I don't plan on getting in the installers way, but would like to keep my presence known--perhaps it insures a better job).

There is ONLY ONE place in Houston to take it to. Custom Car Stereo. 7320 Southwest Freeway. Don't waste your time anywhere else. I had a crap job done by River Oaks Car Stereo... now I'm going to have almost everything redone by Custom.

TWEETER has the best installers!!! I just got my 2 10s W7s installed at the westhiemer and hillcroft store. If you go to that one, ask for John and talk to the installer Lee, he's really cool... I also have a friend at the memorial store, Shreedhar. Their installer Nick is pretty badass.

Check out my homeboys system, this is at the Hillcroft Tweeter, should be done in two weeks.

Tweeter is charging me $125 for the install...I have no idea if that's a good price relative to other companies but as long as it's a professional install, I'm cool with it.
