home theater
hey, i have a amp and wanted to get a sub woofer for my home theater system.
i have all the speakers front, center, and rear, and i want a sub but i dont see a input on my amp for a sub.
can you plug a sub into any slot for speakers? or does the rear of the amp have to say subwoofer input?
cause i just saw some of the denon recivers you have and i dont see any input that says sub input..
does sub inputs dont have a seperate input themselves? or was i mistaken and can you plug subs into any speaker plug behind the amp?
thanks

you can use any fullrange output on the receiver. those sub outputs are specifically for subs and usually have an active xover that filters out the highs from the music for you. if its a preamp output, it does the same thing. but w/out sending an amplified signal. just make sure to follow the receiver's manual and match up the correct impedance to the output so that you dont fry your amp.

If yo can find a dealer that carries David speakers, have I got a deal for you....
I just bought a HT sub a few months ago. I went around and auditioned about a dozen different models, and wound up buying a David 303 sub from Costco. It as good or better than subs from Polk, Infinity, Athena, and a few other brands. It cost me $239 canadian, compared to 400, 500 and 600 dollar subs from the others. The resultant bass is tight, clean, no amp hum, and was the best deal I've seen in many many years. I've had it since September, and still have no regrets. It sounds great with CDs, TV and DVDs.
Highly recommended....
