Hiding Power Cord for Radar Detector

FWIW, I have a 2001 CL-S.

I just purchased a radar detector and mounted it on the windshield where my drivers-side window and windshield intersect, just atop the dashboard.

How can I wire it such that the power cable is not visible, and yet still connected to a power source and the radar detector. I do not want wires running through the car if at all possible.

How much would it cost? Thanks for the help and suggestions,

EllioT

You can do it yourself, for free. The interior lining seperates at the roof line, you can pull it apart, tuck in the wires, and replace; nice, neat, simple, and free.

Are there more specific instructions on how to do this? Possibly with pictures?

I'd like to be a bit more careful than an ad hoc approach, in lieu of harming the appearance of my car.

Where and how would the power cable connect to the power source?

i dont have a new cl, but im sure tis similar....if you understand basic electricity...then you know your detector has a ground, and a positive in the wiring.......cut the cig. lighter end off.......,making sure to have already checked which wire is positive(with a test light), then pull off the side molding (just pulls right off with a lil elbow grease).....take your test light again, and youll see a few wires running up the side (behind that cover you took off) hold the ground of the test light to the body of the car, test each wire, one will be for sunroof open, one for it close, and another for your dome light....youll know this cause when you test the sunroof wires, the sunroof will actually start moving due to interference with the tester (this doesnt hurt or damage anything)
so, tap into the dome light with your positive wire, then find a conveient spot to drill a hole and screw the ground into the body of the car, replace panel and your done....the wires are hidden and your detector automatically turns on/off with the car....good luck!....i'll post pics of mine installed if you want em
