well this wouldn't happen with our cars because they are automatic but I had a friend with a teg who accidently left it in first and then the next day remote started and it rolled into the garage door... $200 worth of damage

I have a Compustar and it will run the car for up to a preset 15 or 25 min and then shut the car off automatically. But in addition its got a 2 way LCD remote that beeps when the car starts, and shows you that the engine is running in the LCD display. To remote start it you have to press and hold down the button for 2 seconds. I have to doubt that you'd ever start it accidentally.

and BTW, there is nothing better than getting into a nice pre-WARMED car in the Winter, and a nice COOLED BY A/C car in the summer.

Simply the best overall upgrade you can do for your TL.

How much did you pay for the compustar, and what is the range? I will be in the market for remote start b4 winter. I had a cheap Viper on my previous car (CL). Did you have to give them an extra key to put under the dash to buypass the imobelizer chip.

Whatever alarm you're getting, do NOT get Code Alarm..that is a POS alarm...I'm a victim of it with my last car

JPTLS21: I bought it for about $260 and installed it myself. {I was a professional car audio installer for many years}

Do NOT stash a key near the ignition switch as that will completely negate the factory fuel pump +12v disabling. Go to www.transponderbypass.com and order the PKH2 transponder bypass. Its a little programmable module that will learn the code embedded in your ingition key, and will only send out a pulse to the car's body control module (making it think the key is in the ignition) when it gets a ground signal off the compustar alarm.

ARN2000TL: for a pic of the remote, just go to www.compustar.org

I dont think so, some ppl ive heard trying to do a mod to make this work, but havent heard anything positive yet. MY suggestion is find a good installer. My cousins Suburban had remote start from Viper and it was a crappy install and it caused a major problem. Sometimes the car wouldnt start or it would cut off while driving. Find a place that has a good repuation and have been in the business for a while. Im getting the new Compustar remote soon.

hrmmmmmmm, about making the memory seats work with the aftermarket alarm, you know i never checked it. I do have my Compustar wired to arm and disarm the factory alarm (just as a back up system, and only because it required one extra wire or maybe two in the drivers door where you have to go into anyway for the doorlocks.

i put the alarm in almost immediately so i dont remember whether the memory seats work on alarm disarm, on whether you have to press the door unlock button more than once on the factory remote. If its on the initial disarm, then it would work without any further mods. if it requires more than one pulse, then you'd need a little circuit that would generate the correct number of pulses from a single disarm pulse of the compustar.
