Yeah I remember that...I was wondering if you ever messed with it again or if you are not going to fool with it?

 

not anytime soon. i'm content with the way it sounds right now. i feel the only real way i can get rid of the hiss (and get a clean signal from the head unit) is to change the hu and get one with real line outs. yet, i'm always open for suggestions too. also, i'm still waiting for silver's install results.

right now i'm more concerned with getting rid of the popping sound whenever i turn off the hu. this popping sound only started happening when i changed my amp from alpine to jlaudio.

 

I am going to have my eq re-hooked up the way I wanted it in the first place and I will let you know if I can get it to stop hissing. As far as the amp poping....let me think. You have the 300/4 right...so it makes the pop through the inside speakers...how do you have it hooked up...like where do you get the signal and where is the remote turn on coming from? When does it happen...when you turn the radio off...when you turn the car off...both??? Mine never makes a noise when it comes on or off.

 

signal for the jlaudio amp is coming from the bose amp outputs via loc. remote trurn on is from the yellow/white remote turn on of the bose amp. i didn't change any wiring from the alpine amp to the jlaudio when i swapped the amps. the popping happens whenever the hu shuts down....whether i turn off the car or shut down the radio first. there are 3 ways i've found so far on how to get rid of this popping.

*1st, putting a switch to shut down the jl amp first before the hu. this means i need to run a wire to the drivers side again....something i don't want to do.

*2nd, i could look for another remote turn on source. i'm not sure if this method will work but seems to be the easiest.

*3rd, i purchased this device from autotoys.com...supposed to stop the popping on shut off. haven't seen it, don't know what it looks like, don't know what the wiring entails....but it's on it's way.

any suggestions would help. silver mentioned that he has this popping too. not sure if he's gotten rid of it yet.

 

Man ill have to listen real close and see if I get the poping...is it loud?? That is how I have mine setup as well but I dont remember what I have as the remote turn on...I think I tried to get the right wire but I think there was another one with the same color but different setup...like instead of yellow white it was white yellow. I will try to look. I would try switching the remote wire first...all it nees is a signal from something that turns on and off with the radio or with the car (but then it will be on as long as the car is on). What about the ground...would that make the poping noise?

silver...how'd you get rid of the pop? please let me know cuz i often forget that the pop is there....so whenever i shut the hu, the pop always surprises me.

 

Try to use ignition as your remote turn on signal. That's how I wired the amps.

 

Hey I checked min and there is no pop...I didnt get a chance to check how the remot turn on is hooked up yet.

 

You dont need remote turn on, do you? 500/1 has auto signal sensing to turn on the amp when there is signal.

I have the remot wire on both the 300 and the 500...I cant remember why I have it still on the 500...I think I read someting in the manual about not using it for some reason...I will have to look.

I know...I had thought about it, but then some shit cam up and I was like fuck it I dont want to go in the POS rental anyway. I also already had tickets for the saints game on sunday and that starts a noon...so I would have to haul ass back 5 hours and sit in some mad traffic to get here for noon. Just wasnt the right time to go...damn that was like the responcible thing to do.....crap!:'(
