Dont even consider it. The stock sub is worthless.

i tried doing it... and all the wiring is done... i just cant find an effin ground in the trunk so i cant turn on my amp... what i plan on doing is try to max out the rear sub until it blows out and then replace it with an 8" free air sub... just dont have the time to find a ground

Ummm.... Almost everything metal in your car is a ground homie. Just use a wire brush to remove any paint and primer and don't forget to use a start washer. If you really want to find a clean ground, use a multimeter.

BTW- I stand behind what I said above... DON'T use an aftermarket amp with the stock sub. Ask anyone with experience in car audio.

listen the stock sub is not intended to pump out massive amounts of bass... its a freakin bose system it does what its advertise to do like in the commercials, provide crisp clean sound and vocals.

ON THE OTHER HAND ... I want to know how i can make the stock system louder .. i dont want more bass or anything .. i just feel like the audio system should be able to go 10 bars higher on the volume, feels like its holding back

If you really want to throw a nice sub in the stock sub spot, I recommend a JL 8" w7 with a 500/1 amp... The stock sub/amp SUCKS man! Don't even think about keeping it.

why not???? i did it and the stock sub sounds alot better. louder and more bass. of course it doesnt compare to a aftermarket sub and enclouser, but for those of us who need our full trunk its a good alternative

I am installing a aftermaket 1 din MP3 player/recorder (www.estone-tech.com) evaluation unit to my 2000 TL. It has 4x45W amp out put and 4 x pre-amp output. I am using a Metra 70-1721 16-pin harness adapter kit. There is a 12-pin connector on the HU. Anyone know what is this connector for and its wiring spec? How you connect the stock sub?
