I've just spent hours on finishing installing an amp to my stock headunit. I have a problem though, the amp only turns on when the radio is on. The amp won't turn when the cd is playing. Can someone tell me how to wire it so it will turn on when the cd is playing. By the way I hooked up the lead wire to the power antenna part of the head unit. Even though we don't have a power antenna, there is a power antenna hookup in the back of the head unit. PLEASE HELP!!!!

 

You just answered your own question. Because you wired the remote turn on to the power antenna wire you WILL ONLY RECEIVE POWER when the radio is on.

Tomorrow i will look in the Helm Manual and see what other wires you can use.......unless anyone else can give ya a hand!

 

yup he is right!

try using the ignition wire to the radio or the cigarette/powersocket wire as remote turn on. you could use a relay to be on the safe side, but there should be enough juice to power up one amp.
