Help a Newbie Out.

Just got a 2001 Type S. I want to add a sub (either 12 or 15 inch) to the stock Bose system. Will this work out alright or will I have to replace everything to get good sound?

Keep the factory speakers for now...
upgrade the Head Unit, get a quality amp and sub.
