Talking help with my system set up!!

i just finally got my system put in and wanted to know if i need to add an extra alternator for the batter, why? cause i have a separate battery in my trunk for my system. what ive was told was to get another alternator so the batteries can take turn charging, like if the battery from my engine needs to be charge it will charge that up and then it will charge up the other battery in my trunk if it needs to. i also heard if i dont get it both will charge at the same time and mess up my alternator...dont no what to do , is it tru?? help me out!!! thanks in advance

that depends on how much electronics you have depending on the main battery and how much power your sytem pulls. i only have a 500watt and 300watt amp with a 1 far cap with an optima yellow top in front and i have no problems. i had that setup for about 3 years in my accrod and never had a problem. if you are really worried rebuild you alt for higher amperage or just get an isolater. an isolater works like a distributer. one input from the alt and two outputs for two batteries. i hear that works good. putting another alt might be to costly.

you should be fine with the setup you have now. I ran 2 batteries like that for a long time and at the time i had a total of about 4200watts and never had a problem.

there is goes and ISOLATER...thats what i meant do i need and isolater so one battery can take turn charging right?

but trailz516 so you had your system running with two batteries? and never had a problem?? one of my friend says i could mess up my alt if i dont get a isolater.

so what ya think i should do? get isolater or forget it? and if my alt mess up how much will that cost and will it do any other damage to my car?? thankss

you'll be fine if you're only gonna run two batteries

an aftermarket alt is ~400$ for one around 150amps.

I'm not sure what car you have, but the tsx alt is 105amps, running at about 250$
