I am thinking about buying a used Navigation system off a 2000 TL. I also have a 2000 TL Non NAvi though. It comes with DVD NAVI, Moniter, and GPS antenna. It dose not come with wires. So would I have to buy the wiring kit from Acura? or dose anybody know where I could get an aftermarket one or make one myself? I was thinking cut the A/C controls and take out the CD changer and mount it there. Or purchase that pice from acura that gose under the NAvi. When I take out my dash and unplug all the a/c will all those wires plug into the back of the NAvi? I would have to make a mold that would go up there right. Prob get Streeteffetcz to make me a mold. What else. I am clueless about the wiring. Then how would I do that thing so i can have it to PLay PS2 and how would I make the voice come out of my speakers?

I already said this was a bad idea in another post...but another thing...aren't the AC controls part of the navi unit? So won't that mean you have a totally useless set of AC controls on the side of your navi? And then won't that look really stupid? And if that's there, and you want to use those AC controls on the navi...have fun hooking that all up with your current AC...and even THEN isn't AC part of the program on the navi unit?

I Was thinking that id i got a wiring harness from acura they probably plug right into the back of the navi. If not i can relocate all the Ac contrils where the cup holder is. But i am pretty sure they hook up in the back of the navi. I am trying to by a used dash peice for navi so i can easily just mount it there. I need alot more info.

 

Shouldv'e bought the car with Navi in the first place. THe way your doing it is a b*TCh and a half..hehe. Or...you can get the Alpine Navi unit...it fits perfectly in the "CD HOlder" slot. Contact Tim..he has it on his TL.

 

Also you have to buy the ac controls that go where your cd holder is. Its the temp and auto controls. This is a bad idea. you are better off spending 1500 on an eclipse double din screen. It comes with a digital sound processor, that has dolby digital 5.1 surround sound. It has 2 video jacks in the back of the unit, it has 2 pre outs in the sound processor and has a cd player and tape deck built in. When you want to use the cd or tape the face will fold down. You can add gps to that for another 500 and save yourself the expense and trouble of adding a factory navi. Im sure all together with labor plus all the missing parts and your nav unit it will run upwards of 3500. You might as well get the eclipse and have a video source with dolby 5.1, and have a navi source as well, all for well less.
