HELP!! 04 TSX Aux Input Plug ABSENT
Hey gang,
First lets get some stuff out of the way. Yes, I am a nOOb and yes this issue (in some regard) has been addressed before. I just bought my 04 TSX non-navi and have spent hours/days reading every issue known to man about this car and potential projects, especially post by elduderino. If I missed the answer to my EXACT question it was certainly not for lack of effort.
Ok...
I bought a iSimple Ipod Aux input (virtually identical to USA Spec) today and thought it would be a quick install. Much to my chagrin, I cannot find the Aux Input plug that is "supposed" to be behind the cubby. I have used mirrors and work lights and contortionist positions to try to find this damn thing but came up with NOTHING. Is there something I am missing??
This is what I see with cubby removed. No plug within eye sight no matter the angle or reach of fingers.

I DID find this female socket on the underside of the HU(i assume, its the HU) using a mirror. This was a used vehicle, is it possible the prior owner took the aux extension with them and left this empty port. **keep in mind you are looking at a mirror facing up into the cubby**

Close Up... matches plug from adapter exactly and charges iPod yet does not interface or even recognize on the HU when I press cd/Aux. Just keeps playing cd #6.

Please help guys/gals...I am pulling my hair out at what is supposed to be a SIMPLE 20 min install.
Thanks

Hey,
I have a usaspec that I installed a couple of weeks ago. For the USASPECs theres a couple of caveats to make the ipod work. First of all, if your unit has both an aux input and an ipod hook up, ipod is CD 1-5, and the aux is CD 6. Secondly, does your unit have "switches" in the back...the usaspec has two switches with two options 1 and 2...I don't know off hand which represents on and which off...but it's meant for enabling/disabling either the ipod or aux...mess with the ipod or if your unit has an aux input as well try seeing if it works through the headphone jack.
As for the other cable not being there...I'm not too sure what the significance of that is...but I had to use a y cable put the USASPEC in first and then put the cable that was there into the supplied cable. Maybe the other guys who have more knowledge can chime in...
But try toggling the CDs from your headunit and messing with the switches (just in case lol)

When toggling through your CD/AUX button, does a new interface called "CD-C" pop up?
I'm not sure how your iSimple Ipod Aux input works, but for the USA SPEC Hon2y unit, it gives us a new interface called CD-C, aka, the "AUX"
No manual came with the unit?

Hey all,
Thanks for the input. From what I have read, the port I found IS the aux port despite lacking an aux extension. As it turns out the monkey at best buy said this product would work on my '04 despite box say 05+. Apparently the reason I got no functionality is due to the fact that my HU is not XM ready and that is a MUST for this product. Needless to say, it's goin back tomorrow am and I am hitting an audio shop for a USA Spec PA11-HON.
I hope to tap into your brainpower for future projects as well!!

Just a FYI; I'm not sure if you can find USA SPEC in local audio shops. At least I'd be suprised if you did.
Some other brands that makes ipod aux-inputs for the tsx
USA Spec
Dice
Dension Icelink
Blitzsafe (?)
I'm think there's one more, but can't think of it from the top of my head.
I've used both USA Spec and the Dice, currently using the Dice R4 (I have XM w/ navi)
USA Spec did me well, loads fast, easy to use.
I made the switch DICE due to the fact that it has text support (Only available for those with both XM and Navi, US only)
If you're getting the USA-Spec, you'll need the PA11-HON
If you're getting the DICE unit, you'll need the R3
Both will run you around the same cost.
Welcome to AZ :}
