A headunit wont cut it...
Here's the deal...a few months back I got a phat Alpine put in my car from StreetEffectz cause my stock wasnt playing burned CDs....Turns out that it sounds like shit- nothing to do with SE...I think it's just the way the car took to the headunit.
My question is for all of you who have put things into your car, what sounds best and what fits...this is also directed at SE too. Im not looking to pour in crazy loot because I doubt I'll keep the car more than another 2 years (it's a 2000TL).
Crutchfield says that there at $50 Kenwoods that fit perfectly but I'm assuming there are others speakers that are better. I was thinking of doing JL subs but I know the blow a lot and I dont feel like dealing with it.
Thanks for the help guys.
PS: What's a good place to get all this stuff aside from Crutchfield. The local places here will rape me.

Wow 44 views and not a post....I searched around and saw that a lot of people use the Polk db650s because theyre an easy fit....do the Momo 6 1/2's fit too or is that a lot of work?
why not go back to SE i am sure they will do you right.. if not then i would look at the infiniti's 6002si i think that is the model number at least.. they sound pretty good without an amp and will should fit without major modifications.. .. plus they should not break your pocket.. as for a sub... i love jl subs..
I agree with Shawhite. Talk to StreetEffectz about it. Might cost you a bit more but, you know you will get good stuff and installed correctly.
If you are going to try it yourself, there are not alot of drop in options. The Polk EX and Infinity Ref will pretty much drop in. Beyond that, you are going to be required to do some custom work. Could be just adding a spacer or trimming the door panel. Just depends what you want to do. The Momo's will require a spacer and probably some minor trimming of the door. Not a huge task however.
Let us know a budget and what all you want to add for that budget and maybe we can recommend some specifics.

Since I already have a $600 HU i was figuring like a grand. I don't want to be cheap but I still really have no ida how long I'm going to keep this car for so that's why I set it to that.

hahahah No a grand on top! Not an extra 400 bucks, I'd be out of my mind. And yeah, the whole deal. Speakers I'm just gonna deal with the polks and I saw them for 75 the other day. One or two people have said Alpine subs are good but like twice that have told me that they're ass too, so I'm gonna veer away from that.

I have Memphis amps and love them. They are pretty inexpensive and sound great. I have a Memphis Belle in my TL but it costs over $500 for just it. You could get a nice 4 channel and good sub amp for around $500. I paid about that for my MC-2004 and MC-500d. For subs, there are tons of options. I love my IDMAX and JL makes great subs as well.
Just a quick thought:
Polk Momo Components : $200
Polk C300.2 Amp: $290
Polk C500.1 $265
Polk Momo 12" w/enclosure $160
$915 total
I got these about ebay. All were brand new, not counting shipping.

I came up with this...hopefully it'll sound pretty decent for what I'm paying.
Polk/MOMO MMC650 speakers
2 Rockford Fosgate 12" P2's w/ sealed enclosure
RF P5002 2 channel amp
RF P4004 4 channel amp
