headunit blacks out
headunit blacks out
hi i just installed a new hu in my cl and im having a lil problem at higher volumes the hu shuts down and then restarts after couple secs. was wondering what the problem could be. My thinking is i need a better ground or power connection.
So if anybody knows that can help me out cause i dont want to open everything up again and it still not fix the problem.

Could be a bad connection of the main power (yellow wire) or the ground (black wire).
But more than likely you have a speaker that is blown or shorted. I say this because the symptom that you described happens at a higher volume. The deck will shut down to protect it's output circuit. And then come back on when it's cooled down.
Listen to each speaker at a lower volume. If you have one that stands out as sounding distorted or making a clicking sound. That's the one. Fix it. If you have no clear winner..... give each door a thump with your hand while the speakers are playing at a lower volume. If that speaker cuts out when you thump it, or it turns fuzzy for a second. That's the one.
If none of this stuff works then you could have a shorted connection behind the deck. And this is why you would want a professional to install your audio gear.
