Headrest TV and DVD player

Hi guys,
Im trying to install 2 headrest TV's on my TSX. I have the factory dash mounted DVD player and the 2 Clarion LCD's TVs, but they are not yet installed. I just had a few questions that i was hoping u might answer.

1) how easy is it to install the DVD player?. Acura is going to charge me $150 just to install the DVD player (without installing the headrest tv's). I was thinking of saving some money by installing it myself. Im an engineer so i might be able to pull it off!!

2) Do you guys know how the LCD TVs connect to the DVD player?. Would i need any other parts?

Any other suggestions would be great!

Thanks!

here is a pic of the dvd player:

1) headrest monitors in the TSX headrests are near impossible. Which Clarion LCD's do you have? What size?

2) Consider using headrests from another car.

3) What does wearing the little cap and the overalls and driving the train have to do with installing a DVD player? : )

4) Does the factory dash-mounted DVD player come with the attachment kit? From what I hear that makes it simple. Get the CD install instructions from handa accesoories web site if you want nice drawings.

5) Does that DVD have a yellow RCA composite video output?

one of my other cars is a Lexus ES 300 and I wanted to put headrest monitors in that, but same problem as the tsx the stock headrests are to small to fit headrests. I got a pair of GX470 headrests that I am going to fit in there place because they are much larger and will tilt back and forth. but the problem becomes that the posts are different. well to fix that I am cutting off the stock posts and welding in ones that will fit. this is kind of a half ass way of doing it but it is costing me almost nothing. remember this project is not done but more pictures will follow when it is

Scroll down the projects the screen project is almost at the bottom

Regarding elduderino's reply:

1) I have a the Clarion VMA5091 LCD Headrest Monitor
2) Yeah im trying to find the headrest of a car that matches the color (cream leather) of my tsx
3)im not that kind of engineer!
4)yes i have the kit
5)yes i think it does

Do you guys know how i would connect both the monitors to the dvd player?. Do i need a video splitter?

no I will not be adding any frame around. the frame is inside under the leather. so when everything is wired up and working I am going to take hot glue and glue the edges strait ( the reason they are not is because of the way the leather is stretched now). so the finished product u will only see the screen and that is it. This is different then I usual do but I think it will look good. much cleaner and nicer looking

Easier to front-load the trim ring IMO... hope you don't burn your fingers (like I do: )

According to what I read your LCD has 1 in and no out.

Manual here: http://www.teamclarion.com/sharedwebdbs/clarionsupport.nsf/b519d112bdcca8b588256a630071fab1/da41d6c29233fb3788256a64006efb73/$FILE/VMA5091.pdf

So you need to take a "Y" adapter from your DVD and split the RCA from the DVD to each LCD. Sometimes you need an active video amplifier/splitter to do this, but for only 2 LCD's the "Y" should work fine.

The IR out from the monitor seems useless since your DVD has no remote, so no need for it as far as I can see. If you have another source (PS2?) you might need an av switcher.

BY the way your interior color is "Parchment" ...

Well as I said in the original post this is for my other car a Lexus ES 300 so it has tan leather i was just showing off my idea. the screens are discontinued screens from parts express and are no name jap screens. they were only about 80 bucks each. but the frames look like crap so I figured I would get rid of them. they only have 1 composite in each and I am going to run them with the tv out on the computer in the car.

take a look at the rest of my project i think you will find the stuff in there intresting. I still have a lot of work to do so it will be some time before it is finished
