What is a good resolution for headrest monitors?? I want to looking for decent monitors at a good price....they will be mostly for show more than functionality since I don't have many backseat passengers.

Most every headrest monitor you can find is 234 x 400 (widescreen) which is 1/4 VGA.

At a 5.8, 6.5, or 7" size, that resolution looks pretty good for composite yellow-RCA video. When you get above 7", the switch to higher resolutions becomes more apparent. Alpine has a VGA 7" in their top of the line indash nav HU (4X as many pixels) but you really can't see the benefit except with the nav image (yellow RCA just doesn't make that big a diff in resolution). That's why their F#1 unit has a S-video input, to take advantage of that difference.

You do want to pay attention to your angle of viewing, your brightness, and your contrast, but looking for more than 1/4 VGA gets really expensive (like maybe Xenarc for VGA?) and doesn't make a huge impact anyway. Get aboce 300 Nits for brightness if you can, and 400 for contrast, and viewing of over 55 degrees L andR if possible (although with HR the side-to-side ain't the deal that it is in center-mount overheads).

What if the specs say 1152 x 234 pixels with 350 NITS for brightness?

I'd say the brightness is OK, but the rez makes no sense.

I'd check this chart 13.7: http://www.informit.com/articles/art...&seqNum=7&rl=1

I think I mis-spoke earlier - 1/4 VGA should be 234 horizontal lines/vertical pixels and 800 vertical lines/hoprizontal pixels. when you talk about horizontal lines of rez (like when you talk HDTV), 234 lines ain't so much.
