is the headlight cap necessary?

Hey everyone, so I replaced my hid bulbs this weekend. after intstalling a CAI, the driver side headlight actually went pretty smoothly. i did the passenger side bulb, but i dropped the torx screw into the engine bay, who knows where it went. i think it may be on my driveway somewhere but i gotta look. anyways, now that im missing the screw, the cap that goes on the back of the HID spot that has the "warning: 20,000 volts" label will not attach. do i need to get a new screw and reattach this?

i noticed today that my passenger headlight is out, although im 99% sure i did installed the new bulb correctly. at one point i had the (ballast or ignitor, whichever the bulb plugs into) resting on top of the headlight housing. my hood struts are somewhat broken and the wind blew and knocked the hood down. the bulb mount got knocked back inside and didnt have any cracks or anything so i figured it was fine. does anyone know why my bulb is out? is it because of the case? or do you think its bc of the hood falling on the mount? if anyone knows anything about this please let me know

Yes that cap is necessary to keep moisture and other stuff out of the housing, just replace the torx screw with a screw of the similar size. The bulb probably came loose because it wasn't installed correctly, when they are in there right they don't fall out to easily.

thanks guys. i checked it today and its not going back on. its still clipped in strong but im gonna take the bulb out and put it back in tomorrow. its most likely not the fuse right? because i only got the problem once i swapped bulbs.
also do i need to disconnect the battery when taking the hid bulbs out? the warning label says you can get shocked by 25,000 volts lol
