head units from japan!!

right now I am in love with the eclipse double din head units from japan.. I really want one because I think the double din head units look a LOT better than flip out head units does anyone know ANYTHING about importing them? I'm thinking i'll have lots of problems to deal with.. dvd zones langauge connection to other components.. but I REALLY want it!!

the frequency range will be off too, but better shops can provide you with an adapter so you can tune in most (if not all) US stations.

I've imported a few Alpine double din radios for some guys. DVD regional coding is a problem as you mentioned. Conections with other componets isn't a real problem. Lots of really nice head units though.

this is the japanese eclipse site.. they have some awesome decks... ok obviously I wouldn't be able to get the nav deck.. but could I get the video deck and possibly change the dvd code? I mean there has to be some way.. what about people who move from california to florida I'm pretty sure its a different code

here's another site with some head units.. it has more than the eclipse site.. eclipse isn't very good at keeping its web-sites up to date.. but yeah value I want the E5509AVZ unless I can get the navi but I doubt that and even if I did they wouldn't have the discs.. how much would it be? I'm assuming the prices on that site are yen and I converted them and it was 1000 something but I'm sure there importing.. and some kind of customization.. and then you gotta make some money off it.. so how much?

i have the 7301 in my 98 accord sedan
it's hooked up to a single DIN region-free panasonic DVD player, a 2301 DSP in the firewall, and an 8-disc eclipse cd changer in teh trunk

even though the graphics are a bit dated, it is an awesome deck
the sound quality is amazing, and teh screen, even though it;s only 5.8 inches, is better than most screens i see out there today... what rocks is the ease of use.. you don't need to press a million buttons to access advanced functions.. you don't see too much of that in alot of units as well

in my 03 tl-s, i first tried to import the e5509avz

the radio frequency incompatibility isn't too much of a problem
it doensn't have an integrated dvd deck, so you can use the video input and connect a US-based or region-free dvd player... you can connect an mp3 cd player/changer into its auxillary input

i ended up NOT importing it because
(1) it's mad hard to get
(2) you can't flip the screen open with teh shift lever in park... the screen flips down and will hit the shifter

i ended up going with an all pioneer setup.. if i ever get my digital camera back, i'll post pics sometime

well.. you didn't have value and I don't mind the shifter thing.. I'll just put it in neutral when I'm switching cd's

magiviper: The 5509 is listed in the 2002 Summer Eclipse cataloge I have from Japan sells for 178,000. Have to look around and see if anyone has one. The site you listed was selling at 135,000 which is pretty good. I will look and see if we can find it better.

Damn the 3-D looks hella tight on the navi. I wish Acura could come up with something like that.
