hardwiring belkin ipod power cord

My buddy has a belkin ipod charger that keeps coming loose over bumps, etc, causing the ipod to pause. The fault is at the cig. lighter, not the belkin, but he wants to hardwire it since its the only car he uses it on. Whats the best way to go about this? Should we just get a extra cigarette lighter (like from radio shack) and put it wherever he wants, or should I cut the adapter and just have the power cord? Its got a line out so the latter option might get a little complicated, but I don't think its necessary to have the line out, really. I already found out that the iPod can handle the voltage surges that it would see (~11-14.4V), so in that sense it would be fine. What do you guys think?

One option, you could buy one of those cig lighters with a long wire, hard wire it under the center console, plug the adapter to it and hide the whole thing under the console somewhere. I guess part of this depends on where you want the ipod to sit?

yeah thats the cord. What you described is one of the options I was thinking, it certainly seems the easiest, but also a bit more

We won't call it ghetto, we'll call it non-destructive. Because you'll have non-modified ipod adapter to use later, if needed. Plus if it's all hidden(the cig-side of the adapter and everything) except for a wire sticking out somewhere, it's not ghetto, cause if you can't see it, there's no ghettoness(non-ghetto, if you will). It just depends on where the wire sticks out that would determine the ghettoness factor.

I noticed that the belkin adapter has the connection for the 3.5mm jack. I was wondering if the Navi system has a "line in"? I am assuming that it does since there is an Aux button on the Navi. That way when you finally do "hardwire" the adapter, you also have the hardwired sound connection and don't have to use an FM modulator to play the iPod in the car.
