got a question

alright i'm going to upgrade my system soon(anybody maybe interested in 2 12" RF He s and a punch 500.2) anyway I'm prob gonna go w/ two 12 eclipse 87 series subs firing them foward through the ski hole with a flush encloser in the trunk with some plexi so u can see the magnets out the back. I want to vent the factory sub location to so i get some bump. I'm think a RF power 800.2 amp on those bad boys, and i'll prob have a 200.4 on my doors. My question is first would i need another alternator & battery or could i get away w/ caps, and if my car is on a lease what kind of trouble am i gonna run into w/ acura if i add an alternator. thanx guys . Austin ur imput would be greatly appreciated

Mmmm you don't want to fire through the ski hole. It's a nuisance to have to have down, it rattles, and it sounds awful (bad imaging). I don't understand about venting the stock sub hole also...I mean...I can see you making a standard ported box, and porting it through the rear deck and firing the subs through the ski hole. I've seen it done but it's difficult. But if you're going to vent through the stock sub hole you may as well do what I'm going to do, which is to just get/make a bandpass box and fire a 9" port up through the stock hole in the rear deck...it will give you much better imaging and dispersion, with no worry of cancellation from having different phases coming from the ski hole, and then an out of phase wave coming from the stock sub hole and reflecting off of the rear windshield.

Second, quick comment about the new style RF amps...if you can get the old body design, a picture of which I have attached...aka the ones I am running...that would be better. The new style doesn't compare to the old design.

And with an 800.2 and a 200.4 (you realize that a 200.4 is only 25W per channel at 4 ohms, so make sure to get 2 ohm speakers)...you're only drawing 60 and 10 amps respectively...you should be perfectly fine with the alternator. I would definitely suggest a capacitor though, otherwise that 800W amp will rape your electrical system. My preference, Lightning Audio Digital Storm 1 Farad Caps (w/ LED Indicator)...$85.

Although I can't verify this now...but I have been meaning to ask...the new models use a different mosfet setup...and was designed to be more efficient...but IMHO the sound quality is worse. Plus they're uglier. I'd maybe try to get the new RF style amps if possible.
