Polk db650

Hey, I have been thinking about putting the polk db650 in my tl for front speakers. Has anyone used these before or what do you think about them?

Yea they are very new, so your right, they may not have been used before, although i am going over to the store to checkt them out today, and possibly installing them in car today as well. If so i'll tell you how it goes.

Well i got the new polk db650, at a decent price as well, 150CDN tax in. Installed them as well, everything went amazing, they fit perfectly in the original basket, fit into the screw holes and everything, no mods. The only thing is that they are a bit bright...not that bad, but they could sound better if possibly i put on the southbound mod maybe, to reduce the high frequencies. So i might do that a little later on. For now they are a great! improvement compared to the ****ty blose that were in there. All i want to do now is disconnect the old sub, and a nice clean sounding one in.

bullybread i am an installer in memphis and I am doing the same thing. Patrick does make a good point though, unless you run them through an amp they do come off a little bright in the car. I personally am going to run them through a jbl 4channel xover and then through an amp set at full range. I haven't tried that set up with the polks, but having use RF and Cerwin Vega's doing that I think it ought to sound pretty good.

patrick,

did you just install the speakers only.. Or did you bypass the EQ first? If not, i think any speaker would sound bright..

I believe vtec11 was right, it will sound real bright without bypass the eq, even if you bypass the eq without power you speakers with an amp the volume will be down at least 50% compare to your stock setup. Do a search about the DX6 mod that SB created year ago then you should know why.

By the way I have "two pairs 4 speakers" with SB mod polk DX6 for sale under for sale section, please PM me if anyone interested.
