Hey does anyone know if it is possible to disconnect the tweeter and the crossover and just have a 3 way door speaker.

I want to install new speakers but dont have the funds to get a component system. And I have heard that CL's have crossovers built into the tweeters. I dont want buy speaker and have the highs not work because of the crossover situation.

Can it be done?

What GEN is your CL? If it's a 2nd GEN then it is ok since the crossover is sitting right next to the tweeter. Just make sure you disconnect the harness. If it's a 1st, I have no clue.

i have a 99 Cl and i just got components. Im shure the Xover affects the 3 way by not giving it crisp sound. My girlfriend has a 2000 accord with the same speaker system. I just got her some 3 ways but they sound like shit. They are pioneers. Not any highs at all, just mids. Im shure its the Xover. Im thinking imma just pull the tweet out and ut the positive wire on it to disconnect it. If u cut both wires they will fall in the hole and if u decide to get componets later its a b*tch to find them in the dash. NowIm not really shure about which wire i should cut. The positive or negative? If u do this before me let me know how it sound( if the 3 ways get the highs back) because im and goig into this blinded as u are.
