free air subs??
free air subs??
i was just wondering if wanted to get some MID bass subs like 8" to complement my 2 10" L5 kickers. i wanted to mount them inside the rear panels cause there is madd room there but i know it would sound crappy with a regular sub so thats where i;m asking if i use a "free air sub" does that mean it doesnt have to be in a box right?? and that it woudl sound good without one
This I would like to see. So you've got 2 10" in a box already? My last system consisted of 8 10" Pioneer free airs and a few compnent speakers. This was in my cavalier z24 tho. You got pics of your current set up?

Free air subs are designed to work in very large airspaces, like the whole trunk for example. Using some regular speakers might work better as they is little airspace in the area you are talking off, might be too little for a free air sub.
Also, I suggest you DO NOT use an actual sub. Many brands make 6.5" and 8" speakers specifically designed for lower-midbass use. Subs are designed mainly for 100hz down - your lower-mids should take over right above the subs till 250-300Hz. You DO NOT want to overlap them (IE just play them together). Drivers of different sizes/makes/models playing in the same range is a big NO NO.
