Forgotton Stereo Code
Guys,
I forgot my stereo code and was wondering how much dealerships charge to look it up?
I haven't taken out the stereo out to look at the serial no but a buddy old me that turning on the stereo while holding down #1 and #6 gives you a 8 digit code that the dealership can use to look up the security code.... is that right?
Thanks.

well since it's here might as well.
the 1-6 hold only works with newer radios. i forget the years but if it doesnt show up, remove the passenger side fake wood trim that runs alongside your radio. when it's removed, look at the radio from the passenger side where the wood trim would normally cover up, there should be a sticker containing your serial number.
you can then call the dealership and if you're lucky they'll give it to you over the phone. i've done that twice, took 2 mins and costed me nothing.
if they think that you stole the radio then you're gonna have to bring your car in.
and as a final note, use the search function. at the top of the page. it gives you results without cluttering up the website, making future searches slow and way too damn numerous to be of help to anyone
