Red face FM Modular..HELP

Does anyone know where the damn antenna wire is in 00 tl w/navi? I am trying to hookup an FM modular so I can have an AUX for my mp3 player. I am sure I would be able to find it if I can get the stock radio out but I couldn't do that. For some reason the radio doesn't want to come out.

For all the people that are going to attempt to take out the radio here is some advice "dont take out the radio" and if you do get some good directions. Found one screw on each side that doesn't want to move. After hours of attempting to get it loose I stripped the screw and had no way of getting it out. The stupid a$$ that I am, I thought the key to getting the radio out was the two screw that wouldn't move so I drilled them and guess what the thing still wouldn't come out. So now I am left with a two thing that resemble a screw ( without the head of course ) and the stock radio still in place. I feel rally bad for anyone that attempts to steal a TL stock radio.

With the center sections removed, why can't you just reach behind the HU and unplug the antenna cable to it? Should be 3/8" round or so. I've reached behind there and unplugged a different harness but I think I've also felt the antenna cable up near the top.

DON'T remove your radio~

all you have to do it...remove that side panel on the drivers side under the wood trim next to the radio
but first you have to take out the panel under the steering wheel...cuz there is one screw under the panel that you need to take out to get the side panel out.
then you have to remove the left wood trim..which you just toward and pull up starting from the armrest console.. cuz there are screws there too that you need to remove also..

after you take that panel out..you can pretty much see the antenna wire cuz its behind the left side of the radio.

Thanx guys I found it. The antenna cable was right in front of my eyes, I wish I had seen it earlier so I didnt have to drill the heads of those screws off...

Do you guys know if those screws are needed for anything?

im not sure as of what screws you are refering to.....i hope you are not refering to the screws that attach the navi/eq bracket to the headunit and the dash.....personally i did not have any trouble taking the stock headunit out it was pretty self explanatory....but that is just me.....

Jenks, what brand/system are you using to hook into the antenna? Are you using the Neo mp3 solution or is this custom made ? And how's the quality you're getting ?

So can you hear any "hissing" or unwanted noise? I've heard from some people that the only difference between a direct FM Modulation vs. CD is that the volume would be a bit lower. In your opinion, do you think it was worth it?

I went to Fry's Electronics today and they had a Clarion FM Modulator w/ RCA inputs. I'm thinking of hooking it up and stashing my Rio Volt in my arm rest storage compartment if the sound is acceptable.
