Finally!!! Some Pics of my TV and Navi conversion..
I finally got my camera and memory card in the same place at the same time.... Here is my install
The Navi to video conversion was done as explained in my other thread "Found Replacement for RGB1 for CHEAP!!!"
The monitor on the passengers side is in a custom mount that I fabricated out of fiberglass filler, based on a Pioneer AVD-W6000 6.5" Widescreen monitor (thanks to the StreetEffectz gallery for giving me the idea to incorporate the original face into the casting). I did all this with just basic tools including a Dremel, sandpaper, and some fiberglass filler.
Here are the pics
OK cant figure out how to insert pics, I'll try to attach

Well that was kind of a pain to attach on my slow-ass work internet connection, but it worked. In the last pic note the CD display...that is with the Blitzsafe Aux input adapter, which by the way is the best part of my system so far, I can't believe the difference in sound. You can also see my Pioneer XM install in some of the other pics, just behind the shifter and glassed into the center console. Wish there was a better spot for it, but its too late now...

i second that great job. i want to do the same thing. but with the exsiting screen in the car. if i bought a dvd player that can mount in the trunk for 99 bucks and the convertor for say 40 bucks, all i need to do is get a switch and switch it back and forth. or would i have to buy pretty much the same stuff you got but without the 2nd screen.

looks great but i would have had the mold sprayed the same color as the interior....or since you molded it yourself you could have had it wrapped in our cheap vinyl dash material

I agree, I was dying to get it finished and installed so I just sprayed it grey metallic cause I had it hanging around. When i head back home i'll take a trip to the body shop and mix up some color to match the dash...I think it would look better that way. But its a good thing i didnt go crazy on the finish since once the sun hit it a few minor blems developed.
The dash material is really thick, I was surprised when I cut into it. I need to make a U-shaped bracket to hold it in from the back, its just pressed in a snug fit for now but is holding up well...
sig1,
Had i done the RGB Navi conversion BEFORE I cut the hole in my dash then I might not have gotten the other monitor, but now the passenger has something to watch.
To do this you can use the $99 DVD player, but you will also need the Composite-to-RGB converter to get the single RCA video output from the DVD player into a format that you can tie into the Nav screen. What I did there was more of a DIY project, and cost about $160 to get the converter working to where I could switch between Nav and Video via a switch up front. You will also need a way to get the audio to your head unit, I assume it is still stock. You can use FM Modulator, which works great until you compare it to something like the Blitzsafe Aux input adapter which completely blows away the FM modulator!!! For $60-$80 you can have the Blitzsafe adapter. This setup, IMO, would be your most inexpensive route to get video and audio in your ride...
Or, for about $500, you can buy a plug and play unit that will give you a TV Tuner, Multiple AV inputs, Backup camera input and trigger, Blitsafe audio adapter, and more. You wont need to cut anything, just buy a DVD player or use the TV tuner only. Its about double the money but half the trouble if you're not a DIY-er. There is a sticky in this forum for Navi to Video conversion, check it out for more info..
Good Luck,
Moat

Yeah is just dim in the pics. I still have manual and auto dimming on the Nav screen, and the pioneer has a photo sensor and automatically adjusts to changing light levels. It works out perfectly and the brightness is always right on.

thank you sir. i had called one of the best known car audio shops around here and he said there is a new cable out that will do all of that. he said it was made by visual logic for about 600 bucks.
i am trying to get the low down on this stuff cause in november we are headed out of state to see relatives which will be a 14 hour trip. the tv and movies would be very nice.
thanks for the info too it was helpful.

It took a few beers to get me in the mood to do the cutting... and a quick call to the family body shop at home and I found out that my cost on the entire upper dash pad is less than $300!!! I figure if I ever want to sell the car (or I screw up) I could restore it back to original for a reasonable price
